The White Moss is Waiting for You

Between the Swiss villages of Saas-Grund and Saas-Almagell stands the 4,017-meter-high Weissmies. Large rock faces adorn both the eastern and southern sides of the mountain. When viewed from the Saas Valley, one can see a white face throughout the year. This side is completely covered in glaciers. According to legend, this white glacier wall is the reason behind the name Weissmies. Locally, the word “Moos” is pronounced as “Mies,” which is why people refer to the mountain as the “White Moss” that the Weissmies proudly displays.

The Cable Car Takes Us from Saas-Grund to Hohsaas

Weissmies is considered one of the most beautiful 4,000-meter peaks in the Valais Alps and is well-known around the Saas-Fee region. The day tour begins in the Saas Valley. Together with your guide, we take the cable car up to Hohsaas. At 3,100 meters above sea level, we have just over 900 meters of elevation to ascend to reach the summit of Weissmies.

If there is one thing to avoid in the mountains, it is haste. As mountain guides, we ensure that both during preparation and throughout the day tour, adequate pacing is key. Safety on the mountain is paramount for every tour, and the Weissmies ascent is no exception. Guided tours to the Weissmies are conducted with a maximum of two participants per guide.
